Artist's Comments

I actually finished it! I guess I'm getting more art done than I thought I would... Anyway, I'm happy with the results, but there's probably a gazillion errors. :( I rarely play with lighting like this. I know I originally said there'd be a full background, but once I started working on one I thought it was too distracting. It drew the attention away from the symbolism in the foreground so I just put a solid black background instead.

As I've said before:

To me, TP Link has always seemed a bit younger and more naive than OoT Link. I don't know how to explain it- he just does. OoT Link also seems more reserved and serious than TP Link.

So I formed this image in my head of TP Link inheriting the Master Sword as the next hero in line. He's hesitant to take the sword because he doesn't know if he has the strength to live up to the name of the legendary hero of the past- the Hero of Time. But OoT Link has faith in him, and he is encouraging him to fulfill his destiny with the words "Take thy sword."

Obviously this is a more smbolic picture and isn't meant to be very accurate to the game. It symbolizes the role of the hero being passed on from OoT Link to TP Link.

I love how you drew OOt Link! And I lov e the idea of him passing on his hero ship towards TP Link! ^__^ A must fav!

My feeling of the characters appears to be exactly opposite of yours, but it's a very pretty picture all the same!

I'm a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in an awesome rack.

Zelink FOREVER. Bitch I will cut you.

What an interesting idea....

If I may, I'd like to do this piece in my own way. With your permission, of course. It'd be nice to draw some Zelda fan-art after so long of...not drawing Zelda fan-art =P Especially twilight Link

that is awesome, I think it looks much better in color! :+fav:

I've already blabbed about how much I like this idea *Q* ( and how much I love OoT Link), so I'll just write about the pic =D

I like the lighting you gave to TP Link, OoT Link's glowing as a light source *_* and the Master Sword's glowing effect, it all gives this mysterious feeling to the whole pic ^~^

the only thing bothering me a bit is the horizon line, I feel is a bit too much close to the characters as if they where near a wall, for me it should be maybe at the same height OoT Link's left wrist is, but that's only me .w.

anyway, great work as always now I shall fav

Beautiful coloring job ='D The lighting really does add and I agree with you about the background thing. Usually when one wants a certain focus on something and they add a background, the background seems to draw the most attention. Also you achieved the whole symbolism thing. <3 Great job!

Thank you so much! Mysterious is good! :D

Oh, lol, that's not the horizon line! It's a step. You know how in the Temple of TIme the Sword pedestal is up some steps? The rest of the steps can't be seen cuz it's too dark. I would never put the horizon line that close! :XD: But it is hard to tell that it's a step, isn't it? Do you think I should just remove the steps and put a horizon line? Or maybe I should put a couple more steps?...
